The Foundations of Machining Training cover the foundational skills that an individual will need to be successful as they transition into a machining role in a manufacturing setting. This four-week training course will provide both classroom and hands-on machine time to learn how to safely operate mills and lathes. Topics include, but are not limited to: Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Blueprint Reading, Layout & CMM, CNC Operations, GD&T, Ethics, Precision Measurement, Math for Manufacturing, and Basic Machine Tool.
Program located at York County Community College's Sanford Instructional Site.

This is a four-week program.

The Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce coordinates all short-term workforce training programs for Maine’s community colleges, working closely with business and industry leaders statewide. Launched in 2021, the Alfond Center served over 26,000 Mainers in thirty months. A new, historic gift of $75.5 million from the Harold Alfond Foundation in June 2024 will enable the Center to train an additional 70,505 Mainers by 2030, significantly impacting Maine’s workforce and economy through strategic private and public partnerships.
